On Dec. 23, 2011, Space Florida, the State of Florida’s aerospace economic development agency charged with fostering the growth of a sustainable and world-leading space industry, announced a partnership with NASA to develop “Exploration Park”.  This 299-acre property, located just outside the gates at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and accessible to users 24/7, is poised to become home to diverse private sector technology enterprises, offering opportunities to grow and deploy commercial space capabilities and respond to national priorities in science and technology.  The Space Life Sciences Lab is currently located in Exploration Park, and is home to the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), which coordinates the use of the International Space Station’s National Laboratory.  The park continues to grow as new companies explore opportunities to do business at the expanding spaceport.
