2026 Screening Update

Screenings have not been scheduled for Fiscal Year 2026. We encourage KSC employees to follow-up with their primary healthcare provider for lipid panel and A1C testing, as needed. A primary healthcare provider can also order additional tests they deem necessary for individual needs/conditions.

The Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) and Diabetes Screening Program offers a screening, including blood pressure, lipid panel and A1C tests. All participants receive a risk profile letter that outlines their results.

Phase 1: Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) and Diabetes Screening

The purpose of the CVD screening is to identify employees at varying levels of risk for CVD. CVD risk screenings are available for all KSC and CCAFS employees and will be announced in the KSC Daily News & NASA Community. Parameters measured include exercise frequency, blood pressure, weight, height, body mass index, total cholesterol (including HDL and LDL cholesterol) and triglycerides. The Diabetes Screening is offered through an A1C test for employees who select to have it. It is recommended participants complete questionnaires prior to the screening. Fasting results include no food or caloric beverages 12 hours prior, but fasting is not required and participants should consult their primary care provider, prior to fasting, if diabetic. The lipid panel (total cholesterol & triglycerides) and A1C are affected little, if at all, when not fasting vs. fasting.

Phase 2: CVD Risk Follow Up

The purpose of this phase is to educate employees concerning their CVD risk. CVD education is provided through both the risk profile letter, and with additional resources for high risk employees, which is included with their letter.
