Energetic/Ordnance Waste

Energetic materials and ordnance items may be considered either a hazardous waste or a controlled waste depending on their hazard classification.

Ordnance waste may be shipped off-Center for disposal or may be disposed locally at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Range. Disposal at the CCSFS EOD Range is performed by Air Force EOD technicians.

KSC organizations and contractors shall coordinate all energetic/ordnance waste disposal activities through the NASA Environmental Assurance Branch (EAB).
