Compressed Gas Trailers

KSC/CCAFS has several types of CGTs in nitrogen, air, oxygen, and helium service. Most CGTs are rated at either 2400 psig or 6000 psig and have capacities from about 50,000 scf to over 120,000 scf depending on the number of tubes and gas service. There are a few 10,000 psig class CGTs and even one 15,000 psig CGT. All CGTs have a 1/2″ male KC outlet fitting and a 200 psi minimum pressure shutoff valve.

Many KSC CGTs are covered by DOT-SP-9740 which allows for a 10 year hydrostatic re-test interval. This is an expensive operation as the trailer must be disassembled into individual tubes. Fortunately, the Department of Transportation had recently incorporated new Acoustic Emission tests as an approved test method thus eliminating the disassembly requirement. As CGTs come due for their re-test, the more economical acoustic emission tests are being used.
