MONDAY, MARCH 31

  • Hazard Communications Kahoot! Open from March 31 – April 4
    • Play with your team or alone. This Kahoot! will teach you what employees should know about the OSHA/KSC Hazard Communications Standard and KSC KNPR.
  • Manage & Treat Different Types of Headaches | Nicole Fehlinger
    • OSB II Room 5109 from 10:00 – 11:00
    • Training Auditorium from 1:00 – 2:00
      • This presentation will cover RehabWorks role at KSC and discuss the different types of headaches, and how to manage and treat them.

TUESDAY, APRIL 1

  • Columbia Crew Survival Investigation Report | Dr. Nigel Packham
    • Training Auditorium from 10:00 – 11:00

    • On February 1st, 2003, early on a crisp, sunny Winter’s morning, the Space Shuttle Columbia broke up over the skies of Texas taking with her the lives of all seven crewmembers aboard. This presentation examines what happened to the crew and the crew module of Columbia during entry. It will examine the five events that occurred post de-orbit burn that had lethal potential. By evaluating each event in turn, a picture of improving crew survivability for all future human space flight vehicles can occur.

    • This interactive event brings the KSC workforce together with organizations like OSHA and the NASA Safety Center to showcase the latest information on employee safety and health. This event offers a fun and informative way to prioritize safety and well-being.

  • SafeTALK | KSC EAP Counselors, Walt Hersing & Patti Bell

    • SafeTALK is an internationally recognized, comprehensive three-hour training that equips you to be more alert to someone thinking about suicide and to effectively connect them with additional help. Using a simple, evidence-based model, SafeTALK empowers each of us to help keep those at risk for suicide safe.
  • Building Trust to Propel Teams Beyond Limits | Ryan Bouda
    • OSB II Room 5109, 10:00 – 11:00
    • This presentation dives into the art and science of exceptional teams, focusing on building, choosing, and maintaining trust. Research shows that strong cultures directly drive team success, innovation, and organizational outcomes. This presentation utilizes a five-component model to make building trust within teams easier and more effective. Attendees will gain actionable techniques to foster trust, collaboration, and a high-performing team dynamic aligned with NASA’s safety values.
  • CPR / AED Information Session | Stephen Pilkenton & Scott Praetorius
    • Training Auditorium, 10:00 – 11:00
    • Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is among the leading causes of death in the United States. In the USA, the number of SCA’s has risen significantly.  KSC has over 200 AEDs located throughout the Spaceport.  Come to the presentation and learn about the KSC AED Program, the Good Samaritan Law, and how to use an AED with CPR.  Together we can save a life.
  • First Aid for Critical Bleeding Information Session | Stephen Pilkenton & Scott Praetorius
    • Training Auditorium, 11:00 – 12:00
    • About 40% of trauma-related deaths worldwide occur because of bleeding; it takes only three to five minutes to bleed out from a serious wound, and the average time for first responders to arrive is seven to ten minutes. Instead of being a witness, you will gain the knowledge to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control the situation.
  • Are Dietary Supplements a Modern Day Fountain of Youth? | Dr. Fred Hauser

    • Dr. Hauser will provide an overview of dietary supplements including their safety and insight into effectiveness.
  • Silent Struggle: Overcoming Internal Roadblocks to Communication | Ryan Bouda
    • OSB II Room 5109, 2:00 – 3:00
    • This presentation will cover understanding and recognizing the internal struggles to speaking up (takes away the fear of discussing them). Learning how to individually overcome those barriers (helps us better understand others). Developing the skills to help others work through their struggles (be able to walk through the steps with other). Intentionally creating space for people to speak up—both in groups and one-on-one.

THURSDAY, APRIL 3

  • Heat Illness Protection | Jason Mozo, Florida Chamber Safety Council

    • Jason will discuss topics including but not limited to OSHA’s National Emphasis Program on Heat Safety, Best Practices to assure a safe and healthy workplace pertaining to potential hazards associated with heat, signs to look for when one may suffer from heat exhaustion and/or heat stroke.
  • Foundations of Safety Leadership | Stephen Frost, USF OSHA Training Institute
    • OSB II Room 5109, 10:00 – 11:00
    • Safety is not just about following rules – it’s about creating a climate where everyone prioritizes their well-being and the well-being of their colleagues. This program introduces the core principles outlined in OSHA’s Foundations for Safety Leadership (FSL) program, designed to equip leaders at all levels with the tools they need to cultivate a thriving safety climate within their organizations.
  • What’s Going on at OSHA | Amy Wilson, OSHA Compliance Assistance Specialist

    • OSHA Orlando CAS will give a presentation on OSHA’s current enforcement/outreach initiatives, status of proposed rulemaking, and compliance resources for employers.

  • Staying Safe Around KSC Wildlife | Frank “Alligator” Robb

    • Presentation on information, education, and safety programs regarding native wildlife that employees may encounter while working at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Frank “Alligator” Robb will also bring native animals you may encounter on center including non-venomous snakes, turtles, terrapins, and alligators.
  • The Nervous System Reset: Using Breathwork to Regulate Stress
    • April 8, 2:00 – 3:00, Teams Only*
    • During this 60-minute workshop, attendees will be equipped with science-backed tools to regulate stress, overwhelm, and anxiety. Did you know that 80% of regulation needs to happen in the body? Resonance breathwork is a unique, elite form of breathwork that not only provides benefits emotionally, but also benefits the respiratory system, nervous system, and heart. By the end of this workshop, attendees will learn how to identify their Optimal Breathing Rate so that they can incorporate it into their life and experience the benefits of resonance breathwork.
