With its arrays deployed, the spacecraft spans more than 100 feet (30.5 meters) and has a dry mass (no propellant in the tanks) of 7,145 pounds (3,241 kg).

More Information About Europa Clipper

GOES-U

Launch Date: June 25, 2024
Launch Site: Kennedy Space Center, FL
Launch Vehicle: SpaceX Falcon Heavy

NASA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-U (GOES-U) mission launched at 5:26 p.m. EST on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. GOES-U is the fourth and final satellite in a series of advanced weather satellites for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Since reaching geostationary orbit at 22,236 miles above Earth, GOES-U has been renamed GOES-19. GOES-19 will benefit the nation and other parts of the world by providing continuous coverage of weather and hazardous environmental conditions over most of North America, including the contiguous United States and Mexico, as well as Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west coast of Africa. In addition to its critical role in terrestrial weather prediction, the GOES constellation of satellites helps forecasters predict space weather near Earth that can interfere with satellite electronics, GPS, and radio communications.

More Information About GOES-U

PACE

Launch Date: February 8, 2024
Launch Site: Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL
Launch Vehicle: SpaceX Falcon 9

PACE is NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem mission, is scheduled to launch in 2024, extending and improving NASA’s over 20-year record of satellite observations of global ocean biology, aerosols (tiny particles suspended in the atmosphere), and clouds. PACE will advance the assessment of ocean health by measuring the distribution of phytoplankton, tiny plants and algae that sustain the marine food web. It will also continue systematic records of key atmospheric variables associated with air quality and Earth’s climate. The two fundamental science goals of PACE are to extend key systematic ocean color, aerosol, and cloud data records for Earth system and climate studies and to address new and emerging science questions using its advanced instruments, surpassing the capabilities of previous and current missions. Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is responsible for the principal mission elements, including the design and fabrication of the spacecraft, development of scientific instrumentation.

More Information About PACE

Psyche

Launch Date: October 13, 2023
Launch Site: Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL
Launch Vehicle: SpaceX Falcon Heavy

The Psyche mission is a journey to a unique metal asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. What makes the asteroid Psyche unique is that it appears to be the exposed nickel-iron core of an early planet, one of the building blocks of our solar system. Deep within rocky, terrestrial planets – including Earth – scientists infer the presence of metallic cores, but these lie unreachably far below the planets’ rocky mantles and crusts. This information will provide insights into how the ocean influences climate change; how a warming world affects lakes, rivers, and reservoirs; and how communities can better prepare for disasters, such as floods.

More Information About SWOT

JPSS-2

Launch Date: November 10, 2022
Launch Site: Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA
Launch Vehicle: ULA Atlas V 401

The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the Nation’s advanced series of polar-orbiting environmental satellites. JPSS-2 is the third satellite in the JPSS series, a collaborative effort between NOAA and NASA. These spacecraft play a crucial role in U.S. weather monitoring and forecasting.

More Info About GOES-17

OSIRIS-REx

Launch Date: September 8, 2016
Launch Site: Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida
Launch Vehicle: Atlas V-411

The Origins Spectral Interpretation Resource Identification Security – Regolith Explorer spacecraft will travel to a near-Earth asteroid, called Bennu (formerly 1999 RQ36), and bring at least a 2.1-ounce sample back to Earth for study.
